The American Contemporary Music Ensemble (ACME) was featured on Nowness in a short film by Yulia Mahr about Max Richter's upcoming, 8 hour-long album. Sleep, out September 4 on Deutche Grammophon, was recorded by ACME and Max Richter last spring in Avatar Studios.
About Sleep, Max says, "The work is made to be slept through, but there aren't any rules, and I'm curious to know what happens when people dip in and out of sleep while listening." He describes it as "an eight-hour lullaby … my personal lullaby for a frenetic world. A manifesto for a slower pace of existence."

Last spring ACME also joined Max on in LA, New York, and at Big Ears, performing works from his albums The Leftovers and Blue Notebook. This fall they will premiere all 8 hours of Sleep to an audience in beds rather than seats.
