Jensen Artists is delighted to announce Icelandic composer Anna Thorvaldsdottir is joining our management and PR roster. Starting this month, our team will be handling Anna's management and publicity for her increasingly busy schedule of concerts and releases.
Within the last year, Anna has released two stunning albums: Aerial on Deutsche Grammophon and In the Light of Air featuring ICE: International Contemporary Ensemble on Sono Luminus. Aerial was included in many year-end lists, including the Ten Notable Performances and Recordings of 2014 by The New Yorker and Top Ten Recordings of 2014 by The Boston Globe, which called Anna "among the most exciting talents to emerge in recent years" in its review. In the Light of Air was described as "rumbling, evocative" and "grounded deep in the beautifully austere landscapes of [Anna's] native Iceland" by NPR Music.
Anna's music is frequently performed internationally and has been programmed at many major festivals and venues, including Lincoln Center's Mostly Mozart Festival in NYC, Ultima Festival, Beijing Modern Music Festival, and the Kennedy Center in Washington DC, to name a few. She was the recipient of the prestigious Nordic Council Music Prize in 2012 and The New York Philharmonic's Kravis Emerging Composer Award in June this year, which includes a commission to write a new orchestral work for the New York Philharmonic.
In January 2016, Anna's music will be performed at the I/O Festival of New Music in Williamstown, Massachusetts, the Njord Biennale in Copenhagen, The Evolution Contemporary Music Series in Baltimore, and at Dark Music Days by Reykjavik Chamber Orchestra in her native Iceland.
