Maya Beiser Receives Glowing Boston Globe Review for Labyrinth

Maya Beiser recently gave the Boston premiere of Room No. 35, a concerto installation for acoustic and electric cello, as part of Labyrinth by composer Paola Prestini. In its review, The Boston Globe called Beiser "a force of nature" ... "Wielding her instrument like a lightning rod."

Labyrinth comprised two installation concertos – Room No. 35 for Maya Beiser with visuals by Erika Harrsch; and House of Solitude, performed by Tim Fain, with visuals by Carmen Kordas. On the visuals, The Globe noted, "Beiser did not seem so much to react to the images as summon them at her whim, and the sections with nothing projected on the walls proved that this concerto could absolutely stand alone." The concert was presented by Beth Morrison Projects at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, as part of the “Stir” contemporary music series.
