In celebration of composer Lou Harrison’s 2017 centennial, pianist Sarah Cahill will perform three concerts in Florida – Sunday, December 10 in St. Petersburg; Monday, December 11 in Sarasota; and Thursday, December 14 in Orlando – as part of her 2017-2018 tour of Harrison’s solo piano, chamber, and orchestral music in concerts across the country and in Japan.
Recent tour highlights include performances of Harrison’s Concerto for Piano with Javanese Gamelan in Boston and Cleveland, performed on one of Harrison’s original handmade Gamelan and Harrison’s Piano Concerto with the San Jose State University Symphony Orchestra.
Earlier this year, The New York Times praised her “fascinating program” of Harrison’s works at Le Poisson Rouge in April, while the Los Angeles Times described her performance at Tuesday@MonkSpace that month as, “important … Cahill played more as Harrison himself might have – boldly, exuberantly, with an ear for color and a foot for rhythm.”
