Neave Trio (Anna Williams, violin; Mikhail Veselov, cello; Eri Nakamura, piano) announces the June 1, 2018 release of French Moments on Chandos Records. French Moments features the only known piano trios written by the French masters Claude Debussy, Gabriel Fauré, and Albert Roussel, and was produced by Jonathan Cooper and recorded at Potton Hall in Suffolk, England.
French Moments follows the Neave Trio’s debut on Chandos, American Moments, released in 2016 and featuring works by Korngold, Foote, and Bernstein. BBC Music wrote of American Moments, “The Trio offers a strong sense of partnership, with the Bernstein bounding along in fine spirit. The Foote shines wonderfully and is well worth discovering,” while American Record Guide praised Neave’s playing as “idiomatic and attractive.” Listen to American Moments here.
Anna Williams, Neave Trio violinist, says of French Moments, “We really fell in love with these works and feel the combination of these pieces creates a certain magic. While they’re all French, they represent a varied and wonderful range of texture, harmony and emotion. We hope listeners will feel like they’re on a scenic journey. Though there is a huge output of fantastic French repertoire, these three pieces offer a wonderful taste of it.”
