The New York Times announces world premiere of THE DAY at Jacob's Pillow in Summer 2019

The New York Times has announced the world premiere performances of THE DAY – a collaboration between acclaimed cellist Maya Beiser, legendary dancer Wendy Whelan, prolific choreographer Lucinda Childs, and Pulitzer Prize-winning composer David Lang – which will be presented by Jacob's Pillow at Doris Duke Theatre from July 31 through August 4, 2019.
Beiser and Whelan performed two packed work-in-progress showings of THE DAY in the Catskills this month as part of their Lumberyard residency.
Featuring both women onstage for the duration of the performance, THE DAY is a meditation on two journeys – the mortal passage, followed by the eternal, post-mortal voyage of the soul. This bold, highly collaborative work explores universal themes not easily grappled with – memory, aging, death, the survival of the soul – through the shared language of music and dance.
