North Carolina NewMusic Initiative presents violinist Kristin Lee, joined by pianist Kwan Yi , for a recital featuring works from Lee's project Americana. The concert is free on Friday, January 25, 2019 at East Carolina University’s A.J. Fletcher Recital Hall. More information here
Lee’s project Americana showcases the distinct and recognizable sound of American music and its rich history, with music by composers who were setting the trend, and music by composers who were following American trends. As a foreign-born citizen of America, Kristin was compelled to select this repertoire to express her pride of the country she now calls her own.

At East Carolina University, Kristin Lee and Kwan Yi will perform George Gershwin’s Three Preludes (1926); George Crumb’s Night Music ii from Four Nocturnes (1964); Elliott Carter’s Rhapsodic Musings from Four Lauds for solo violin (2001); Charles Ives’ Violin Sonata No. 4 “Children’s Day at the Camp Meeting” (1900-1916); Aaron Copland’s Three Moods for solo piano (1920-1921); Kevin Puts’ Air for Violin and Piano (2000); and Maurice Ravel’s Violin Sonata No. 2 (1923-1927).
